Welcome to XboxWife

Buying presents for women is difficult.

Actually no, that's not true, buying presents for women is exceptionally easy as long as they aren't someone you really care about. It's when you actually care about them liking what you've got them that it gets hard.

Unfortunately, it was this situation that I've found myself in - and so, in a blinding flash of genius (or more likely foolishness) i decided this year, for my Missus' birthday, to attempt to do something a little bit different.

And this is it. Welcome to xboxwife.

You see, I'm a gamer and a pretty major one at that - if its got a controller, I want to play it/beat it/own it. I can't help it - its an addiction.

Now one of the things that I love about my Missus is that she is very understanding of this. In fact, she is understanding above and beyond the call of duty. She has rarely (if ever) moaned about me taking over the TV for nights on end, never complained about my random shouted expletives during Halo sessions and even bought consoles for me!

I repay her, of course, by generally failing to do what I'm told, or putting off household tasks for too long. Frankly, the more I think about it, the less of a fair deal I realise this is.

And so that's where this site comes in - because one thing that us Xbox 360 owners all possess is a critical flaw. There is a chink in our geek armour that can be exploited in order to get things done and it is this:

We crave achievement points more than life itself.

XboxWife is designed to exploit that. It's designed to allow my Missus (hello honey) to create her own achievements for me to complete. She can assign them names, descriptions and values and they will all technoMagically be linked to my real xboxLive gamertag.

The tasks may be mundane, or dull, but I fear (and indeed am counting on) that won't matter - there are achievement points to be gained and damnit! I won't leave them unearned...

Happy birthday honey!

The XboxHusband
